1) SMART Learning Goal
Date: 8 October 2025 Goal Statement: Improve my English grammar accuracy through short, guided conversations with AI based on fictional scenarios. Specific: What will you achieve? What will you do? Once a week, I will take part in a short written conversation (around 10 exchanges) with AI. Each session will be based on a short scenario (e.g., solving a problem at work or planning a trip). I will focus on using correct grammar, especially verb tenses, articles, and prepositions. Measurable: What data will you use to decide whether you've met the goal? After each conversation, AI will highlight my grammar mistakes and explain the corrections. I will keep a simple record of my most common errors and aim to reduce their frequency over time. Achievable: Are you sure you can do this? Do you have the right skills and resources? Each session will take about 20 minutes (10 minutes for conversation + 10 for feedback), which is manageable within a busy week. Every practice also gives me instant feedback, helping me learn from my mistakes immediately. Relevant: Does the goal align with those of your team or organization? How will the result matter? Practicing grammar through realistic dialogues will help me improve accuracy and fluency simultaneously, which directly supports my learning goals. Time-bound: What is the deadline for accomplishing the goal? I will complete this goal over 6 weeks. In the first weeks, I will focus on verb tenses and sentence structure. Then, I will practice articles and prepositions. In the final weeks, I will combine all grammar aspects and review my overall progress. AI Prompt (PL): Poniżej są szczegóły celu SMART dotyczącego poprawy dokładności w gramatyce angielskiej poprzez krótkie, prowadzone rozmowy z AI oparte na fikcyjnych scenariuszach. Podaj temat scenariusza i po ~10 wymianach zakończ podsumowaniem błędów gramatycznych. Completed Topics: • Day as a Project Manager • Planning a trip with a friend • Recovering a hotel reservation • Solving a technical problem • Buying a car • Complaining about a damaged package from an online shop

3) Presentation Project (3 tasks) A/B/C
A. Self-Presentation
I am studying at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. My field of study (major) is Telecommunications. My specialization is Mobile Telecommunications. I am in the Bachelor's program. I am studying for my BSc (Bachelor of Science) degree. I am in the third year, fifth semester. I have 9 (nine) lectures, 6 (six) laboratory classes (practicals), 1 (one) seminar classes, no project classes, 1 tutorial.
I find my course relatively easy. I'm interested in research work in IoT wireless communication. I've gained experience in designing. I plan to write my Bachelor's project in 2026 (two thousand and twenty-six). I will obtain my BSc degree in 2027 (two thousand and twenty-seven). I chose this field of study because I wanted to expand my understanding of radio communication systems and technologies. I chose this university, because my uncle highly recommended studying in Wroclaw, and it was one of the best options for me. After graduating I plan/hope to set up my own business. My strong points are finding unconventional methods of solving problems. I am good at playing the Minesweeper, achieving extremely low completion times.
B. Mock Presentation (Preparation & Feedback)
Topic: Optical fibers (telecom + chemistry). We aligned on a shared plan to divide tasks and build the final deck.
Outline:
We had to create a mock presentation about a topic of our choice. We decided to find a common topic with the group, which turned out to be not so easy. The topic we came up with, which combines telecommunications and chemistry, is “Optical fibers.” We used materials found on the internet and our own knowledge. While preparing the presentation, we used materials found on the internet as well as our own knowledge. To organize our work effectively, we first created a presentation plan, which helped us structure the content and divide tasks among group members. The final presentation was prepared based on this plan.

C. Final Presentation
Topic: Alternatives to satellites like weather balloons, solar airplanes, and airships. Focus on use cases and advantages over orbiting satellites.
Outline:
The presentation outlines possible alternatives to satellites, such as weather balloons, solar airplanes, and airships. The main goal was to present the types of alternatives along with their most common applications. At the end, a summary of the advantages of these alternatives compared to satellites in orbit was provided.

Changes after mock feedback
During the mock presentation, the main issue was the unclear presentation of key points for the audience. To create a more accessible format for conveying key knowledge from the presentation, I decided to create slides that were engaging (comparing the pros and cons of satellites with HAPS) or presenting a map showing the number of weather balloons. Previous attempts showed that a good title and appropriate images facilitated the retention of information.
PART II - REFLECTIVE SECTION A/B/C/D
A. Learning Process
What were your initial expectations and goals for this course? My main goal was to increase my confidence in using English effectively in order to improve my fluency and comfort in both speaking and writing. How well did you achieve your SMART goal? My grammar and the number of mistakes I make improved slightly, but less than I had expected. However, my fluency increased significantly. I managed to eliminate most logical errors and noticeably reduce my response time when replying to another person. Which activities helped you improve most (e.g., group work, presentations, AI tasks, feedback sessions)? The most helpful activities were group conversations during classes and the SMART goal in the form of conversations with an AI bot in fictional scenarios. What language or skills areas do you still need to develop (academic vocabulary, pronunciation, writing, etc.)? Definitely pronunciation. I still have problems with using correct grammar, although writing no longer causes as many difficulties as it did before.
B. AI and Academic Work
How did you use AI tools (if any) during your learning process? I used AI for my SMART goal to conduct fictional scenarios, to check grammar, and to make sure that the information presented in presentations was coherent and not too complex. How did you make sure your use of AI was ethical and responsible? The assignments included appropriate notes explaining that AI was used and how it was used. However, due to my first experience with this type of solution and the number of assignments during the course, there were probably cases where the use of AI was not marked correctly. Did AI tools influence your originality or creativity? In what way? No, AI did not influence my originality or creativity during classes. Its main role was within the SMART goal, where conversation topics were suggested by AI in order to create an element of surprise. What did you learn from the “AI Policy” group project about using AI in academic contexts? I suggest that future courses should use the opposite logic, where assignments are by default considered to be checked by AI for grammar, and cases where AI was not used should be clearly marked. A possible solution could also be a dedicated table attached to such documents.
C. Presentation Skills
What did you learn from preparing and delivering your mock and final presentations? Key points must appear on the presentation exactly in the form in which they should be remembered, and they must also be mentioned verbally in order to be remembered. How did feedback from peers and your teacher help you improve? Thanks to feedback and quiz results, I learned how to present important information more effectively. What communication strategies or language functions did you find most useful (e.g., signposting, summarizing, emphasizing key points)? The most important elements were clear and minimalist slides containing only essential content, as well as intermediate slides that helped maintain the audience's attention span.
D. Self-Reflection and Future Goals
What did you learn about yourself as a language learner and communicator? I have significant problems with pronunciation, but I no longer feel anxious about having conversations. What would you do differently next time to improve your learning outcomes? I am not completely sure, but I would like to explore different ways of improving my pronunciation in a foreign language. How can you apply what you've learned here to your studies or future career? Contact with an international client or employer would now be much easier than before. What kind of support or resources do you need to continue developing your English? I need a way to practice conversations, such as a person or a group with whom I could regularly speak English.
